Guitar
Guitar is a stringed musical instrument that produces sound through the strings’ vibration. It is typically used in a variety of musical genre such as rock music, pop, country, and blues among many others.
Guitars were traditionally made from wood and animal guts. Today however, modern guitars are constructed by using wood or metal; while the strings can be made from nylon and lap steel.
Guitars are categorized into two types: the acoustic and electric guitar.
An acoustic guitar relies on simple acoustic methods to create sounds. It features a hollow body that enables amplification. Whenever the strings are plucked, the sound bounces inside its body that creates a mellow tune. It is used in music styles such as blues, country, as well as classical music.
An electric guitar on the other hand, utilizes an external amplifier to produce sound. The amplifier converts the vibrations into electric signal, which then produces its warm and distinct tune. Unless amplified its semi hollow body would only create a thin and twangy noise.
Electric guitars are used as primary instruments in rock, jazz, alternative, metal rock and many more.
Guitars have played an important part in the history and development of music. Artists such as Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Eric Clapton, Elvis Presley, and Jim Hendrix are just some of the many well-known guitarists that changed the face of the music industry through their one of kind guitar tunes.
